Samuel "Sam" Jason Neath

October 30, 2000 ~ January 1, 2021 (age 20)

Remembering Sam

It is with sadness the family of Samuel “Sam” Jason Neath announces his sudden passing on Friday, January 1, 2021 at the age of 20 years.

Sam was the true devotion of his parents Jason Neath and Jennifer Collins and his grandparents, papa Barry Neath, and Granny Jean and Grandpa Ernie Wiebe. They all loved him more than life itself.

Sam was born on October 30, 2000 in Wichita, Kansas when Jason was playing hockey for the Wichita Thunder team. The family moved to Ponoka when Sam was 3 where he resided until after his graduation from high school before moving to Edmonton.

Sam was known for his keen sense of humor, his adventurous spirit and magnetic personality that attracted the many friends he had in his life. Sam had the gift of an amazing sense of humor; he was extremely quick witted and was a master of the use of sarcasm, a trait he came by honestly.  He even had the ability to make you laugh at his bad jokes.

Sam loved sports, he played golf in the summer and snowboarded and played hockey in the winter. His favorite sport while growing up was playing hockey with his friends with his proud parents looking on.  Many of the friendships he and his parents have today were fostered during his hockey days during the out of town tournaments, with the most notable ones being the Jasper tournament involving the “911 incident” and the Great Hanna Blizzard tournament of 2011.

Sam also loved music; old classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Fleedwood Mac were among his favorites. Much to his parents’ chagrin and his granny’s delight, Sam was a dedicated Trump supporter and Tucker Carlson fan. Sam loved his family trips to Hawaii, Florida, Mexico and Palm Springs where he became best of friends with all his cousins especially Curran and Max.

Sam is survived by his parents Jason Neath and Jennifer Collins; his Granny Jean and his Grandpa Ernie Wiebe; his papa Barry Neath; his Uncle Michael and Auntie Maureen Collins and cousins Emma and Makenna; his Aunt Kathy and Uncle Dan Billesberger and cousins Josh and Jordan; his Auntie Karen and Uncle Sandy Harrison and cousins Nicole and Alex; his Uncle John Stapleton and Auntie Lori Neath and cousin Kimberlynn and her husband Adam; his Uncle Travis and Auntie Vicki Overacker and cousins Lily and Jaxson. Sam had so many more loving family and friends who mourn his tragic loss than can be mentioned here. Sam was predeceased by his Great-Great-Grandad Ernie Stevens, Grandpa Dennis Collins, Grandma Shirley Hancock, and Aunties Carol Stevens and Gaye Woods.

Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Ponoka Minor Hockey Association.
